District nurses are registered general nurses with additional qualifications that enable them to provide skilled nursing care to patients within the community. They assess and plan with patients and carers nursing care to suit individual needs in the patient’s own home.
They liaise when necessary, with local Social Services, hospital services and voluntary agencies to operate a service 365 days a year.
All district nurses can offer advice and further care on a variety of needs including the continence service, Macmillan service and Marie Curie nursing care.
